DIRECTIONS FROM MILAN & BERGAMO AIRPORTS TO Montagna del Sole, Via Belvedere, Muronico – please print this off and bring it with you

If you have SatNav – these are the exact co-ordinates 45.946599, 9.118416. Do not use Via Belvedere as the address, use these instead, as on some Sat Navs it give you Via Belvedere as being in Pigra (as it is a newly named road) or if you put Villa Rosa, Argegno into Google maps, the apartments are located directly before this, where you see a row of 6 green garage doors.

Take the motorway for MILAN (A8), follow until you pick up signs for COMO and LAGHI – the Lakes (A9). Follow Como motorway, pass through the Pay Barrier, taking the right lanes if you want to pay by cash or take the left lanes and follow VIACARD signs if you want to pay by credit card. Ignore the Como Sud exit, and the Como Monteolimpino exits and take the next exit for LAGO DI COMO. If you go past this, you will end up at the border for Switzerland, so be careful not to miss it.

Then follow the main road to a small roundabout and follow signs for MENAGGIO (S340), which is the 3rd exit off the roundabout. IF YOU WISH TO STOP FOR PROVISIONS, YOU WILL SEE THE BENNET SUPERMARKET/CENTRO LARIO COMPLEX HERE ON YOUR LEFT (see below for more info and opening times).

After that go through a long tunnel and follow the road, with the lake always on your right you will go through another tunnel at Brienno and then shortly afterwards you will enter Argegno.

1. Signpost after Argegno village

1. Signpost after Argegno village

Once in Argegno, pass through the village, over a bridge, and take the first turning on your left out of the village – you will see the signpost number 1. as above – for Lanzo, San Fedele, Castiglione, Dizzasco  – turn left here. This is the SP13 Via Provinciale.

Continue up the hill and you will pass 4 chevron >>>> signed bends. Simply follow this windy road until you see La Brea Restaurant on the right hand side. Immediately after that there is a very narrow street to your right – ignore that one and take the next turning on your right, which is signposted to Muronico. After you turn in you will see a small street off to your left with cars parked on the right. Turn left here. At the end of this there is a traffic light, turn left here up a steep hill (via O. Pinchetti or Via Oreste Pinchetti – you could put this address into your satnav). Although the hill is steep and narrow it is perfectly doable in any size of vehicle. Watch your wing mirrors on the first tight corner and then proceed uphill. Stay in first gear. As you reach the top of this hill, you will see a car park on your left. If you prefer you can park here and walk up the next bit – the properties are where you can see a row of 6 garages with green doors, so not very far to walk).

If you decide to continue by car, shortly after this you will see the road Via Belvedere to your right. Take this road and Stay in first gear and keep your power up, as you do not want to stall here. You will immediately see a row of green garages in front of you, with parking in front of them, for Montagna del sole apartments, pull in here and park your car so as not to block the exit for anyone else.

If you are arriving after dark please bring a torch with you as the street is unlit.
The apartments are directly at the end of this driveway on your left, where you will see a gate leading to the apartment pool.
DSCF0332_640If you do not already have your your apartment number, it will be allocated to you the week prior to your arrival.
Apartment 2 (ground floor) is located down the steps at the far end of the pool (steps are on the right). Apartment 2 is the farthest one from the pool.
Apartment 3 (first floor) is located up the steps, at the far end of the pool (steps are on the left of the pool). It is the far apartment overlooking the forest.

The apartment will either be open with the key on the table or if its locked the key will be behind the shutter to the right of the entrance door.

Contact during your stay
We recommend that you download this free application, to give you free contact with us during your stay –

Extra beds & Linen

Please advise us before your arrival if you require any extra beds adding to the property (where possible). As we cannot supply this if you only advise us on the day of arrival itself. There is a charge of €50 for additional fold-up beds.

Child cots, high chairs & strollers/push chairs

If you require a child cot, we can hire the fold-up travel-style cots for you at €25 per week and high chairs at €10 per week.  We can also hire strollers/push chairs at €25 per week. Please advise us in advance if you require one.

Garages for rent
There is ample free parking at the properties, but if you prefer to put your car in a garage, you can hire one for €50 per week. Please book this in advance.

In the unlikely even that you wish house the central heating, it is simply charged at cost.

Arriving by taxi
It is cheaper to book your taxi in advance from a local company rather than get one from the airport, as they will charge you more and then not know the area well. Our suggestion would be Como Lake Taxi – Andrea (he speaks English and knows all our properties). He will even stop at a supermarket for you, if required. An 8 seater minibus from Malpensa will cost around 150 euro each way.  Here are the contact details – 0039 366 1008353 –
Arriving by car
You can hire a car at any of the Milan airports we recommend Avis, Hertz  Europcar or Maggiore – do not use Sicily by Car. Also we would advise hiring a smaller vehicle, where possible, as many of the roads on lake Como are narrow, so it makes driving easier. Avoid the Lancia Ypsilon, as they are underpowered and will not get you up the hills with 4 people and luggage! Having said all that, you can get a minibus up even the narrowest road, you just need to be careful.

Holiday Insurance

We strongly recommend that you take out holiday insurance for your trip to cover you for cancellation etc. Please follow the link for holiday insurance –

Provisions and shopping:

You may wish to shop in Como for provisions on your way, as the local shops close at 19.30. The best place would be the Bennet shopping centre, which is located just as you come off the motorway, at the end of the road, instead of taking the exit for Menaggio, take the next one and that will take you into the Bennett car park. It is open until 9pm. Or the local shops are open on Sunday mornings until mid-day.
